Using QuickBooks with Multiple Users and Multiple Locations

Sometimes, you need to have access to QuickBooks for more than one user, and from more than one location. For instance, your company might have more than one office with more than one accountant/person who accesses QuickBooks. You can do this by:

  • Sharing the QuickBooks company file via a VPN - This is not a good solution. It carries a high probability of slow QuickBooks access and data corruption.
  • Purchasing QuickBooks Enterprise Edition (about $3,000 USD for the 5-user version)
  • Allowing Remote Desktop sessions to the QuickBooks server
  • Allowing Remote Application sessions to the QuickBooks server (look at the 2X Application Server or Citrix)
